Official Description
| " | Fell. Aggressive. Argumentative. These are only three of the words that depict the Triple Stryke in boxing and the incredible fury it unleashes with its trio of braided tails. Displaying an ornery disposition from the kickoff of their lives, Triple Strykes make the ideal champions in underground gainsay arenas. With their barbed hides that deflect attacks, their intense fire blasts that blind opponents, and their tail triad that braids into a unmarried powerful weapon, a Triple Stryke wins most bouts on intimidation alone. Only victory sometimes breeds vanity and exploiting this overconfidence is often the simply way to defeat a Triple Stryke in battle. A Triple Stryke's braided tail is a force to be reckoned with, but each tail produces a unique venom: A sting from the first tail numbs combatants, the second disorients them with balmy hallucinogens, and the 3rd creates an agonizing of burning in your very blood. | " |

Development
The Triple Stryke was mainly based on scorpions in terms of appearance. A slice of concept art depicts the Triple Stryke with an underbite, a characteristic which was later dropped. The ear-like appendages were intended to exist much larger and the dragon had much more than spikes on its head.
Concrete Appearance
Egg
In Rise of Berk, Triple Stryke eggs are a dark red color, with almost black sections in the centre. They are smooth, shiny, and oblong shaped with some small-scale nubs on them.
In School of Dragons, the eggs take the same appearance and color, but they more circular, like almost eggs in this game.
Hatchling to Adult
The Triple Stryke is a stockily built, arachnid-like, bipedal and seemingly digitigrade dragon with armored plates on its back that resembles an armadillo'south and two legs. It has two big ear-similar appendages on its head and a pointed nose. The nearly notable characteristic is its thick, braided tail that tin unwind and split up into three thinner ones. Each tail is made upwardly of many round segments and is equipped with a scorpion-like stinger, though some individuals, such as Syringaca, have egg-shaped structures on their tail tips instead. Their forelimbs act equally pincers, which also resemble that of a scorpion.
Titan Fly
Titan Wing Triple Strykes accept two pairs of horns on their heads, also as larger and sharper dorsal spines. Their tails have silver, gold and bronze tones, with details on its orange wings and dissimilar designs on their body and wings.
Abilities
Triple Tails
The Triple Stryke has triple tails, all three with stingers at the end and that can braid into one dangerous tail.
Stinging
On the tip of each of the Triple Stryke's three tails, there is a stinger, each one producing its own unique venom: The first numbs opponents, the second disorients them with mild hallucinogens, and the third creates the agonizing awareness of your blood burning. Triple Strykes use their tails as their principal source of set on and defense force, every bit they prefer not to use their burn as much, as it requires a lot of energy.
Some Triple Stryke individuals, such as Thorntail, posses unique toxins in their stingers that overwhelm their victims with the odor of flowers.
Tail Whipping
The Triple Stryke'due south tails tin also be used equally a whip if they are not in a position for stinging. When the tails are combined, they can finer whip or smack its opponents. The Triple Stryke can whip three Vikings simutaniously with its tails. Unlike stinging, which is mainly used for attacks, tail whipping is mainly used for defense, as seen when Sleuther was defending Dagur and Shattermaster from the Dragon Hunters in "Shell Shocked, Part 2". But they tin can likewise exist used for offense, as when Sleuther smacked Stormfly in the face.
Tail Rattle
Triple Strykes have been shown to be able to make a rattle with their tails, similar to that of a rattle serpent. This was outset merely thought to be able to exist done by Syringaca In Dragons: Rise of Berk , withal, it was confirmed to be a natural ability, as shown by Sleuther in "Something Rotten on Berserker Island", subsequently Snotlout teased Dagur about his name, and Sleuther frightened him off.
Prehensile Tail
The Triple Stryke'south tail is prehensile, which makes it able to grasp objects. This can exist used to hold dragons, Vikings, or other objects. If only i tail is used to grasp an enemy dragon, Viking, or its casualty, it tin so devour them or use its other two other tails to sting them.
Firepower
Triple Strykes shoot intense, continuous streams of bright orange flames. They can release big jets of fire because of their wide jaws. They also appear to be highly concentrated in fuel, as the flame gives off a brilliant color. The flames can also exist shot equally short fire blasts that are more fit for destroying objects, as they have been seen to easily and quickly explode wooden shields. Information technology is too said that the Triple Stryke's fire is able to blind its opponents.
Forcefulness and Gainsay
The Triple Stryke has shown a lot of strength, especially in its tail. The lifting ability of the Triple Stryke is strong enough to handle the weight of Toothless using just one tail without whatsoever struggle while grabbing him in the air. The Triple Stryke has likewise demonstrated this lifting power past using the combined strength of all its tails which acted like a hook to pull out a metal muzzle with a Razorwhip and Heather in information technology from the water and elevator it out into the air during the events of "Sins of the Past".
The Triple Stryke is one of the few dragons shown to be able to take on a Night Fury even in a ring as modest as the quondam dragon arena on Berk. All the same in this instance Toothless was holding back and eventually stopped holding back to easily have Sleuther down. According to the ringleader from the Dragon Arena, the Triple Stryke is able to defeat dragons in under five minutes. It was shown to take fifty-fifty beaten a Speed Stinger.
Speed and Agility
As a Strike Grade Dragon, the Triple Stryke is an incredibly fast dragon. It shows great aerodynamics and agility during flying, being able to wing upside downwardly and practice flips.
Defense Curl
Thanks to their agility, the Triple Stryke has been seen to often perform a fast spinning coil as it comes into boxing, similar to Hideous Zippleback dragons. The gyre can be used for defense as it has a thick hide, and its underbelly won't exist exposed.
The Triple Stryke can also use this for an ambush attack, every bit its spins really fast before landing and hitting its opponents with its tails, without beingness noticed or harmed. Information technology can as well be used if the Triple Stryke needs to go near its opponents without getting injured.
Defensive Plates
Layered on top of its scales, the Triple Stryke is armored from its tail to its head (other than its belly) with barbed, defensive and potent plates which deflect attacks, such as things like spines and arrows. These plates also increment its endurance in attacks, such equally things like slashes or burn down blasts.
Endurance and Stamina
The Triple Stryke has a barbed hide, which protects it from attacks. As it was able to take the boilerplate powered plasma attacks from Toothless, it was able to fight for a long period of time and able to fly a long distance with him. Sleuther took direct shots from a Titan Wing Singetail and was still able to fly at the aforementioned speed.
Intelligence
Being in the Strike Course, Triple Strykes are highly intelligent, as shown when Sleuther follows the hand commands of Dagur. He was likewise able to understand Dagur'south whistling command. He even went to his rider'due south side when Snotlout mocked Dagur's proper noun, rattling his tail to tell Snotlout to dorsum off.
Acid
The Champion Triple Stryke seems to be able to both breathe acrid mist and to shoot the aforementioned mist from their tails. It is unknown if other Triple Strykes can do this. It is possible that the mist from the tails contains the typical venom in the stingers of other Triple Strykes.

Some Triple Stryke individuals, such as Thorntail, have specific coloration on their body that enables them to alloy in with the spring flowers around them, enabling them to bide their time while waiting for their prey.
Swimming
Triple Strykes are shown to exist good swimmers as demonstrated by Sleuther when he and Dagur saved Heather and a caged Windshear. He can swim at high speed and hold his jiff for quite a while.
Weaknesses
Vain
Triple Strykes are similar to Sharp Course dragons, as they can exist very vain and over-confident, and these tin can effect in their own downfalls during combat.
Clicking Sound
As seen in "Blindsided", the Triple Stryke makes a clicking audio with its tail right earlier it attacks. Those who can hear the sound can anticipate the Triple Stryke's next move.
Weak Spot
Like to many dragons, the Triple Stryke's underbelly is weaker than the rest of its body, meaning that an assail on the underbelly could event in serious injury. This was shown during during Sleuther's fight with Toothless in the Dragon Fighting Arena, when Toothless shot a plasma nail at Sleuther'due south underbelly, incapacitating him for a few moments.
Behavior and Personality
Triple Strykes are merciless and formidable, stopping at no cost to destroy their opponents. Their sheer confidence and intimidating stature are enough to scare other dragons. With its incredible skills, these dragons are arrogant and sometimes over-confident, loving to flaunt its abilities. These dragons are fell and relentless, as displayed when it continuously attacked Toothless, and attempted to kill a Dragon Hunter. They are as well rather scrappy, willing to pick a fight with any other dragon. As shown by Sleuther, they don't give up easily and refuse to accept defeat constantly coming back to sprawl.
These dragons, still, are quite misunderstood. While seemingly merciless, these dragons do repay their debts and are incredibly grateful. They volition stop at no price to express their gratitude and respect. This is shown when Sleuther was spared by Toothless. Instead of killing him, he stood upward and cast a seemingly confused yet thankful look. When the Hunters broke in, he immediately prepared to defend Toothless, just when the latter told him not to kill a hunter, Sleuther obeyed with respect.
Training
Astrid having successfully tamed Sleuther
| " | Hiccup, maybe nosotros should brand room for the possibility that the Triple Stryke is just untrainable. [src] | " |
| — Astrid, upon noticing how hard it was to railroad train Sleuther |
These dragons are fierce and barbarous, thus they are extremely difficult to train. However, these dragons do repay their debts. If shown mercy and kindness, the dragon will care for you lot with respect and pity and volition stop at nothing to protect you. As seen in "Blindsided", the Triple Stryke can also be trained by clicking and clacking objects together, equally it sounds like the clicks that the dragon itself makes. The possible reason why the Triple Stryke responds to clicking sounds is that it might think that in that location'south some other Triple Stryke nearby. Every bit Triple Strykes normally do not welcome humans near them, the tricky part is getting close enough to 1 to railroad train it. Making clicking sounds will distract the Triple Stryke, and permit the Viking to come up closer to touch its head.
